Ceramiche Refin to attend the 53rd edition of the International Biennale exhibition in Venice.

Wednesday 3 June 2009

The 53rd edition Biennale Internazionale d’Arte exhibition, this year entitled Making Worlds (Fare Mondi), to be held at the Gardens, at the Arsenale as well as other sites in Venice, will open to the public from June 7 to November 22, 2009, and will bring together in one exhibition more than 90 artists from around the world to showcase new works of art expressing a myriad of varied and diverse creative languages.

Refin will loan some of their DesignTale Studio works to the Fondazione Teatro La Fenice for the opening events as well as throughout the duration of the exhibition, and create the Fenice Design On Stage event. The celebrated rooms of the Gran Teatro la Fenice in Venece will host the exhibition of Pareti d’Autore by DesignTaleStudio created for the Design On Stage events of last years.  The works and set-design created by Michele De Lucchi, Sandra Bermudez, Karim Rashid, Elio Fiorucci and Romina Power will be exhibited and the guests will be given informative literature on DesignTaleStudio creative laboratory.

The inauguration of the event will be on Saturday, June 6, and the work will be exhibited in the theatre until September. This event represents a unique opportunity to once again underline the creative drive guiding DesignTaleStudio, which will be present at the Temple of International Art, the Biennale in Venice, with a strong co-marketing event.

For those who would like to attend the opening of the event, an invitation card (which should be compiled and sent to us) is attached.

Trascreativity videos: Elio Fiorucci and Vito on the democratization of interior design

Monday 28 April 2008

We start publishing the videos of the Trascreativity event with an extract from the first day, in which Elio Fiorucci answers a question posed by the audience, on the risk of homologation associated with department stores selling designer furniture. Fiorucci believes that the Ikea-model must be seen in a positive way because it increases choice and also makes style affordable for the less wealthy.

Footnote: have you noticed anything new? This is the first video published on the brand-new channel YouTube for DesignTaleStudio. We will use this as the archive for all our videos, make a note of the direct address:

Day three at Trascreativity: Yamaha, Fiorucci… and lots of rain

Saturday 19 April 2008

It is raining cats and dogs in Milan, it is cold and our stand opposite the Triennale is bearing the brunt. But the public are still turning out in droves, not put off by the rain and even if the weather is not perfect, we note a great interest in DesignTaleStudio and in the works displayed.

During the morning, we had the pleasure of hosting Yamaha for the official presentation of the eleventh Yamaha Fest, scheduled for this summer in Cattolica, which will also see a retrospective exhibition on Elio Fiorucci, entitled “Love makes life magic” organized by Laura Villani. Fiorucci and Villani opened the press conference, then they handed the microphone over to Yamaha senior managers and representatives from the public authorities.

The rain and the traffic made the meeting with Karim Rashid - scheduled for the afternoon -impossible. He was stuck in tailbacks for more than one hour and, after numerous phone calls, at 7.30 pm, we gave up. This morning the sun is shining, we hope that today’s meeting with Mario Bellini, Roberto D’Agostino and Andrea Pezzi will be held in better weather conditions.

Trascreativity: a meeting with Elio Fiorucci and Vito

Thursday 17 April 2008

Elio Fiorucci e Vito a Trascreativity

Trascreativity kicked off in style yesterday, with a meeting with Elio Fiorucci and Vito. The many people present were able to take part, in an intimate and refined space, in a relaxed and entertaining chat between the designer and the comedian, on the topic of innovation, style and modern life.

As we already know, Fiorucci, is an incurable optimist: thanks to progress and technology, today we live a better life, our thoughts turn to communication, to medicine and transportation. In design and in fashion, this vogue, which is inescapable, usually translates into greater choice at more convenient prices. Large furniture and clothing stores mean that design and good taste is affordable, and thanks to this every increasing choice, there is never the risk of excessive standardization. Vito emphasised these points with his sense of humour, for example, reminding everyone of the time when summer collections had not yet discovered synthetic fibres, and bathers would come out of the sea with a swimming costume weighed down with water and which would take ages to dry.

If you want to have a taster of the day, you can do so by clicking here to see the report by Ultrafragola, who will be with us every day during the event; this year, we will put all our videos on the site starting from next week (along with a small surprise…)

Today, the meeting with Alessandro Mendini and Vivienne Westwood ( click here to take part).

Trascreativity: opening day with Elio Fiorucci gets the green light!

Wednesday 16 April 2008

Here we are. Today, at 5 p.m., Design On Stage 2008, “Trascreativity” starts in the square opposite the Triennale in Milan. Surely, one of the most captivating events of the Fuorisalone 2008. Today’s guest will be Elio Fiorucci, whose “lips” is one of the most fascinating Prototypes d’Autore included in our first series. If you haven’t requested your free invitation yet, you are still in time to do so.

Our stand is nearly ready: for those who haven’t had the chance to visit the Triennale in the last few hours, below are some renderings of the architect Laura Villani, planner and organizer of the event.

The appointment today is at 5 p.m., Wednesday 16. As last year, we will follow the Trascreativity event in real time with photos, videos, comments together with our prestigious media-partners, Radiomontecarlo, with live radio broadcasts of the interviews with the guests, and Ultrafragola, the web TV dedicated to design.

Back to Trascreativity: Fiorucci, Rashid and Porcarelli

Tuesday 15 April 2008

In the previous posts, we revealed the “new” guests of Design On Stage Trascreativity for this year: Alessandro Mendini, Vivienne Westwood, Mario Bellini and Krizia. With them, we will see two protagonists of the 2007 edition return: Elio Fiorucci and Karim Rashid. Moreover, Claudio Porcarelli will be present, also this year, as official photographer of the event.

Elio Fiorucci is an aficionado of DesignTaleStudio events, in fact he took part to Design On Stage 2007 and to Grand Design Tour last autumn in Bologna. As last year, Fiorucci will be present at the inauguration on Wednesday 16.

As you can see in the video, last year Karim Rashid had a mind-blowing effect on our event at the Triennale, and w e expect the same from him again this year. Rashid will be present on Friday 18 at 7.00 p.m.

Also this year, Claudio Porcarelli, the photographer of the celebrities par excellence, will organize his photographic set inside our space for Design On Stage, in which he will immortalize the guests and the audience with his renowned ability for portraying photographs as art. Have a look at his interview from last year, with a small backstage of Sandra Bermudez’s session.

It is still possible to request a free invitation to Trascreativity, which allows you to take part in the events with Fiorucci, Rashid as well as other guests.

Refin and DesignTaleStudio at Fuorisalone: some “tasters”

Friday 7 March 2008

In March, architects and designers reach fever pitch: the count-down to the Salone del Mobile exhibition in Milan starts, probably the most important event of our sector, world-wide. The anticipation is focused on the events and ephemeral settings of the Fuorisalone, in the Tortona district and of the Triennale. Last year, we created Design On Stage, a “design lounge” designed by Laura Villani opposite the Triennale, with the participation of many guests, such as Elio Fiorucci, Michele De Lucchi, Karim Rashid, Satyendra Pakhalé and Sandra Bermudez, each one the designer of a ceramic slab prototype for DTS.

And this year? We will be there again, don’t worry. Would you like some “teasers”? We will be once again in the square opposite the Triennale with a new setting by Laura Villani, with Claudio Porcarelli’s photographic set and an intriguing theme: creativity as transgression. Among the protagonists, we will have a legend of the Italian design and two international fashion-designers…..all of them famous “transgressors”.

Keep an eye on the blog, we will reveal more in the next few days…

Elio Fiorucci at Stefano Forni art gallery, part 3: Fiorucci’s aesthetics, decoration (and Andy Warhol)

Monday 22 October 2007

Towards the end of his speech during the Grand Design Tour, Elio Fiorucci once again underlines the importance of decoration and of the detailed use of colours which has always been a cornerstone of his aesthetics in the field of fashion-design. Summing up, he reported an interesting anecdote connected with his friendship with Andy Warhol in the 70s and a discussion they had about the theme of aesthetics in modern times.
