Here are some other photos of our stand at Cersaie 2009 which was designed by Michele De Lucchi exclusively for Refin Ceramiche / DesignTaleStudio. After having dealt with the a-temporality of ceramic and with its naturalness, manifested in the design set “From earth to the Earth”, De Lucchi has now focused his attention on the technological innovations of Refin Ceramiche, underlining how, thanks to the technologies of transformation and project-planning interpretation within the space, ceramic can also be used to take advantage of its lack of weight.

Here are some photos of our stand, designed by Michele De Lucchi for Refin Ceramiche, at Cersaie 2009. Specifically, we have chosen to publish an overview of the stand and a detail of the corner where the ceramics designed by De Lucchi is displayed, that is to say, the most important new collection released by DesignTaleStudio to mark the trade-fair.

In what is the culmination of an intense period of collaboration between Refin and Michele De Lucchi, the ceramics designed by the famous architect for DesignTaleStudio will finally be produced.

This large size ceramic slab, already used for some of DesignTaleStudio design sets (From earth to the Earth, 100% Design Rotterdam, Design On Stage), will be officially produced and destined to cover “ethno-minimal style” bathrooms, where the contrast between lines and glossy reflections creates an illusionary, dynamic surface. While we wait for the publication of this ceramic slab in our official catalogue, you can have a sneak preview in the section Prototipi d’Autore.

Ceramics by Michele De Lucchi… the first DTS autumn mystery!

CERSAIE 2009 is almost upon us: tomorrow, in Bologna, the most important exhibition in the ceramic tile industry starts, and this year promises to be very interesting, especially as all exhibitors feel the need to come up with “something new” to overcome the economic crisis and open the door to the future.

We will again focus on sustainable architecture and Italian design, continuing our ongoing collaboration with Michele De Lucchi, who made a dramatic impact at the recent Fuorisalone. In the photographs above, you can see a preview of the stand that the architect designed for this occasion, and is situated at stand B32 (Hall 36).

Here we are once again after the summer break with a summary of the various activities that will characterise September and October, a “hot” time for the ceramic industry. As always, we like to be a little “mysterious”, so we will reveal just a glimpse of things to come, but not everything, of course…

• Refin and DesignTaleStudio will be present at Cersaie 2009, taking place this year in Bologna from September 29 to October 3 and will once again see us teaming up with Michele De Lucchi following the same path we started together at the recent Fuorisalone. The absolute protagonist for DTS will be the new Gold and Platinum Tagli d’Autore and a brand-new collection … what a mystery!
• During October, the first Refin showroom will open in a famous Italian location: not a mere commercial venue but a place where we will organise numerous events promoting Italian architecture, design and ceramics. Where will this be? Another mystery!
• But it is not a mystery that, until November 22, we will be present at the Biennale in Venice with the Design On Stage design set organised by Laura Villani, photographs of which can be seen on our Flickr account.

What else can we say, if you are looking forward to finding out what these mysteries are… stay tuned!

We took this picture with our mobile phone, in a rush, as we couldn’t contain ourselves for the excitement and wanted to share the news with you straight away: Refin and DesignTaleStudio have won the “Best Stand” award at Cersaie 2008. We are excited: after having won the “Best of Show” award last year at Coverings, this is further confirmation that the creative direction we have taken, this time in partnership with the designer Karim Rashid, is innovative and courageous yet able to win over the public as well as the experts in the sector. Let’s keep it up!

9 o’clock: shutters are up, Cersaie 2008 begins.

The Refin and DesignTaleStudio stand designed by Karim Rashid has had great success and has been nominated for the award of best stand. In fact, with its open spaces and majestic terracing, covered with wonderfully colourful R+Evolution ceramics, really is a breath of fresh air in hall 36.

It is almost time and tomorrow the shutters come up at Cersaie 2008, the most important ceramic trade-fair in the world. The spacious DesignTaleStudio and Refin stand catches the eye in hall 36, an open and strikingly colourful stand displaying the new collections of the R+Evolution series by Karim Rashid (who, not by chance, is also the designer of the stand).

Tomorrow, we will publish some images of the stand. As a teaser, enjoy the slideshow showing the countless possible combinations of decors and cladding available in R+Evolution.

We are at the threshold of Cersaie 2007, the most important ceramic and sanitary ware trade-fair in the world.

The DesignTaleStudio space (Pav. 36 – Stand C42), just behind that of our parent company, Refin (Pav. 36 – Stand B32), will focus on a completely new product collection, the “Tagli d’Autore”. New because of its size, look and destination of use, but still, manufactured using techniques of a craftsman and with a tendency geared towards the experimentation of new ceramic art languages. For the moment, you have to be content with just knowing the name of the collection as well as this sneak preview of the pages dedicated to the collection in the new catalogue: come back tomorrow morning on the blog and you will know (and see) everything.

As you already know, during the Cersaie week, DesignTaleStudio will also be present outside the fair, at the most important art galleries in the heart of Bologna, with The Grand Design Tour traveling exhibition organized by architect Laura Villani. Today, at 11.30 a.m. at the Palazzo Segni Masetti, the inaugural press conference will take place: if you wish to take part to the invitation only opening event on October 3 along with fashion-designer Elio Fiorucci, there is still time for you to fill in the form in the Contribute section.
