Design On Stage: la parete dei Prototipi d'Autore alla Triennale di Milano

Within the Catalogue section of Designtalestudio.com we have recently opened a brand-new section called Prototypes d’Autore, in which we have grouped all the ceramic slab projects that we developed in collaboration with famous artists and designers. We have called them “prototypes”, as they haven’t been produced yet although they have been available to show only during special events, such as Design On Stage at the Triennale exhibition in Milan in April 2007 or the forthcoming Grand Design Tour taking place in Bologna from October 3 to 6 2007.

Amongst the Prototypes d’Autore you will eventually see the complete series of drawings by Karim Rashid and Peter Halley; Elio Fiorucci’s “lips”; Michele De Lucchi’s totem; the crushed paper by Sandra Bermudez; Lucio Dalla’s fish and Romina Power’s Tao.

Video: the production of DesignTaleStudio’s Pareti Gold

Thursday 13 September 2007

This short video is just a preview of a documentary film on DesignTaleStudio we are currently working on, a trip through the techniques and creativity of our ceramic art masters. Watching, yet again, the creation of a Parete Gold in the video has been a very emotional experience we immediately felt the need to share with you: never mind if the images on this clip are still “raw and crude”.

The filming has been carried out in our laboratory in Salvaterra and it shows our team at work with gold, clay and other powders to transform a porcelain stoneware slab in a real work of art: unique, irreproducible and authentic, in the wake of the great Italian ceramic tradition.

Design On Stage Premiere: Peter Halley’s original drawing

Monday 16 April 2007

Anteprima disegno Peter Halley

Following the events with Elio Fiorucci, Michele De Lucchi and Karim Rashid, on Saturday 21st Design On Stage will host the minimalist American artist Peter Halley, who designed an original slab for DesignTaleStudio. Below you can see a detail of his original drawing characterized by the geometrical game between “cells” and “prisons”, that, in this case, represents the layout for the different material effects on the slab surface.

As with other days of Design On Stage event, there will be a cocktail from 6 p.m. and Peter will meet the registered guests and will comment with them on his artistic concept and his original creation for DesignTaleStudio. An interesting and “tempting” aspect of Saturday event will be the presence of other leading figures among the audience attracted by the outstanding caliber of Halley: Alessandro Mendini, Elio Fiorucci, Karim Rashid and Sandra Bermudez.

In order to obtain a free invitation to the cocktail with Peter Halley on Saturday, April 21, please fill in the registration form.

Design On Stage Premiere: Karim Rashid’s original drawing

Monday 16 April 2007

Anteprima disegno Karim Rashid

This is a detail of the original drawing for DesignTaleStudio designed by Karim Rashid, that will be presented this week during Design On Stage at the Triennale in Milan.

As you already know, Karim Rashid will be with us at the Triennale on Friday, April 20. From 6 p.m. on, Karim will share cocktails together with the registered guests, introduce his slab purposely created for DesignTaleStudio and speak about himself and his artistic career within the informal and friendly environment of Design On Stage. Of course, we will report on the day with interviews, pictures and videos in Designtalestudio.com blog, so stay tuned!

For those who haven’t already done it, it’s still possible to register to the cocktail with Karim Rashid on Friday, April 20. We would also like to communicate to the fans of the Egyptian-American designer that Karim himself will be present also on Saturday 21, among the audience attracted by Halley’s genius.

Pareti d'Autore Gold Limited Edition

Last week while Carlo and Alberto here in Italy were going live online with the blog, I was in Moscow for Mosbuild, the most important Russian trade-fair of architecture and interior design. We were present with our stand Refin/DesignTaleStudio, which saw the world premiere of the Pareti d’Autore Gold Limited Edition.

Only 150 hand-made porcelain stoneware slabs in 60×120 cm sizes containing pure 24 carat gold. Yes, true gold. A luxurious product, extreme, avant-garde, with a never before seen visual and tactile impact. Either you love them or hate them: we will deal with this issue on this blog a lot.

The visitors of Mosbuild belonged to the first category for sure, judging by the affluence of people at our stand and the interest aroused by the Pareti d’Autore Gold. We’ll see how the Italian and international public will react when they will be able to touch and feel them for the first time next week at the Triennale in Milan during the event Design On Stage.
